Extreme Cinema's Breaking Point
A run of films from the New French Extremity, Asia Extreme and the European art-house provocateurs, all rhyming on the body as the place where grief, desire, revenge and power break open, best watched near each other so you can see how differently each director uses shock.
These are notorious cult and festival objects rather than crowd favourites: Salò and Audition are film-school touchstones, Raw and Titane are the newer critics' darlings, and every one of them is punishing, so watch them deliberately, one at a time, and never casually.
