When Nature Turns Predator
A run of films where a shark, a flock of gulls, a giant ape, a crocodile, a trained dog or the creatures under the ground turn on people, and each one uses the monster to say something else: a town that cares more about money than safety, a man getting smaller, a racism someone has taught.
Mostly crowd favourites and classics that are easy to like, from Jaws and Tremors to The Birds and King Kong, with a couple of rougher cult films (Fuller's uncomfortable White Dog and Hooper's grimy Eaten Alive) for viewers who want the genre's harsher side.
- Jaws (1975)
- The Birds (1963)
- King Kong (1933)
- Tremors (1990)
- The Incredible Shrinking Man (1957)
- White Dog (1982)
- Eaten Alive (1976)
