The Supernatural on the Couch

Watch these together for a run of films where a curse, a spell or a haunting is held up against the doctor's or sceptic's explanation, and each one stays honestly unsure which side is right, from Caligari's asylum frame to Thelma's neurology ward.

Caligari and Cat People are film-school canon, while The Shout and Ghost Stories are cult objects for curious viewers; most of these are short, atmospheric and more unsettling than gruelling, so they suit a late night rather than demanding a lot of stamina.
