Grief Made Monstrous
A run of films where mourning, guilt and the strain of motherhood curdle into something horrifying; watched together they show how far horror can go as a language for grief.
It runs from modern art-horror hits everyone has seen (The Babadook, Midsommar) to von Trier's notorious Antichrist. That makes it emotionally punishing, and better taken one film per night than as a marathon.
- The Babadook (2014)
- Midsommar (2019)
- Saint Maud (2020)
- We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011)
- Antichrist (2009)
