Tokyo's Hollow Killers
Watch these when you want the quieter kind of fear: detectives, profilers and grieving fathers face killers who are eerily calm, and violence spreads by suggestion through ordinary rooms and suburbs.
These are film-school canon and festival favourites rather than crowd-pleasers, led by Cure and Audition, and they ask for patience with slow, withholding pacing that pays off in deeply unsettling ways; save them for when you're ready to be disturbed.
