What's debated

The perennial fan debate is whether any of the sequels is worth your time — Tremors 2 has real defenders, but the consensus fight is 'original only' vs. 'the Burt Gummer saga is the point.'

Its footprint

It gave monster-movie vocabulary the word 'Graboid,' and Michael Gross's survivalist Burt Gummer became such an icon he outlasted the original cast across the entire franchise; 'broke into the wrong goddamn rec room' remains the go-to quote.

Where it stands

A comfort-food cult classic and Letterboxd crowd-pleaser — the standard answer to 'name a perfect B-movie.'
