What's debated
The evergreen fan fight — turbocharged by a Big Bang Theory episode — is whether Indy actually matters to the plot at all, i.e. whether the story would end the same way without him.
Its footprint
The boulder escape and the red-line travel map are among the most parodied images in movies (The Simpsons, UHF, every adventure game since), and 'Snakes. Why'd it have to be snakes?' is permanent quote canon.
