The arc
A famous flop-to-classic story: its 1940 roadshow run lost money (the war had closed off Europe, and audiences found it highbrow), but a 1969 re-release — marketed with a psychedelic poster to the counterculture crowd — turned it into a hit, and it's now untouchable animation canon.

Film fans still split between 'sublime, cinema's boldest experiment' and 'gorgeous but a slog' — with a side debate over the racist Sunflower centaurette Disney quietly cut from every release since the 1960s.
Its footprint
Sorcerer Mickey — pointed hat, marching brooms, out-of-control magic — is one of the most referenced images in animation history, a Disney parks emblem, and a go-to metaphor for automation gone wrong; the sorcerer's name, Yen Sid, is 'Disney' backwards.
