How Cobweb was received

2023 · Samuel Bodin · Cobweb on Sightlines

The arc

It slipped out in limited release on the Barbenheimer weekend of July 2023, so almost nobody saw it in cinemas. Since then it has picked up a small following on streaming, where horror fans keep recommending it as an underrated spooky-house film.

What’s debated

Fans split over the third act: some love how wild and over-the-top it gets, while others think the creepy, slow-burn first hour deserved a different ending.

Where it stands

A minor cult pick that turns up on 'underseen recent horror' and Halloween-watchlist lists more than in any canon.

Did you know? It was Samuel Bodin's first feature, after he made the French Netflix horror series Marianne, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's Point Grey Pictures produced it.
