Did you know? Jude shot it in about 10–11 days on an iPhone 15 — no lights, no grips — immediately after wrapping his Dracula, using much of the same crew, and it still won the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at Berlinale 2025.
Named by the director
- Europa '51 (1952) — Jude has said the film began with rewatching Rossellini's Europa '51 (prompted by a Andrei Gorzo essay) and describes his own movie as a kind of caricature of it.
- Roberto Rossellini — Jude invoked Rossellini's idea of a 'poverty of means' — that films about poverty shouldn't be made with enormous budgets — to justify the iPhone shoot.
