Critics mostly shrugged when it hit France in summer 2025 (it settled around the mid-50s on Rotten Tomatoes), and it's far too young for a real reappraisal — though it's already collecting 'so sincere it's actually fun' defenders.

What's debated

The fight is whether it's an unofficial remake of Coppola's 1992 Dracula in everything but name, or a genuinely heartfelt gothic romance being unfairly graded against a classic.

Its footprint

Among reviewers the running joke is calling it 'Luc Besson's Francis Ford Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula' — the Coppola resemblance became the film's whole conversation.

Where it stands

A divisive latter-day Besson curio — filed by most cinephiles under 'late-career Besson does gothic melodrama' rather than anywhere near the Dracula canon, at least so far.
