A Sundance 2024 darling (it won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award there) that Searchlight bought for a reported $10 million, it rode a full awards-season wave to Kieran Culkin's Oscar — and barely two years on it's already remembered less as 'the Eisenberg movie' than as the Culkin showcase.

What's debated

The eternal awards-season row: was Culkin's Benji really a 'supporting' performance, or the most brazen category placement of the decade — plus the quieter split over whether the film itself is a gem of restraint or just very slight.

Its footprint
