The arc

Exploded out of the 2019 Berlinale with the Alfred Bauer Prize, swept the German Film Awards, and was Germany's Oscar submission — then found a second, international life as a word-of-mouth streaming discovery, the film people dare each other to get through. It's since become shorthand for the best of recent German cinema, and the launchpad for both Fingscheidt's and Helena Zengel's international careers.

Its footprint
