The Suspect is a five-part British psychological thriller built almost entirely around Aidan Turner's performance as Dr. Joe O'Loughlin, a psychologist with Parkinson's who slides from local hero to murder suspect. The show's central pleasure is sustained ambiguity — is he guilty or not? — and the final episode delivers enough emotional payoff to redeem earlier frustrations for most viewers. The chief complaint across reviews is the pair of investigating detectives, written as implausibly tunnel-visioned and procedurally incompetent, which strains credibility throughout. Adapted from a Michael Robotham novel, it has the feel of a prestige ITV limited series: well-produced, visually clean, competently paced, and strongly dependent on a charismatic lead.

Aidan Turner's performance is so nuanced you can't be sure. Each episode builds the suspense.
Perhaps it is Aidan Turner's character , he is brilliant in this , I cannot figure if he is guilty or not !
I find myself bemused at times by the lead detectives attitude , he is like a dog with a bone , and it is a bit odd that he is not willing to investigate other avenues and suspects , when , clearly there is evidence to suggest that it could very well be someone other than Dr. O'Loughlin.
the pair of detectives investigating this case has to be the worst pair of detectives I've seen in my life. They show no regard for the truth and actual events and their only mission is to fit whatever happens into their narrative, no matter how stupid and far fetched their theories actually are.
the whole series is severely compromised by the way the two leading detectives are written. They are portrayed as completely blinkered so neither of them will even consider other possible scenarios.
