The Night Agent poster

The Night Agent is a Netflix action-thriller centered on a rookie FBI agent drawn into a White House conspiracy that escalates far beyond his pay grade. Season 1 is praised as a binge-worthy, premise-driven thrill ride with a breakout lead performance from Gabriel Basso — tightly plotted, propulsive, and credibly grounded in a fish-out-of-water dynamic. Season 2 drew sharp criticism for weakened writing, particularly around female characters written as emotional liabilities, plot holes, and a loss of procedural credibility. The show appeals to viewers who enjoy fast-paced American political spy thrillers with a clear protagonist and escalating stakes, prioritizing momentum over depth.

From the reviewers

Season 1 was pretty good and the inexperience of Rose and Peter was believable. They got the problem solved but mostly got lucky.
Peter is a trained agent who allows Rose to meddle in a case. There's never any backup and whenever there's a decision to be made it's made based on emotion.
Peter, he rocked the first two episodes. Working over the kid, on the edge, trusting no one, and on a mission to figure out what happened to his partner. Then Rose came and he got all sentimental and forgot all his training.
A lot of nonsensical plot holes, disjointed and formless story lines thrown together in a blender. Clearly not based on a book like season 1 but rather a tv writer effort to leverage the original.
The women in this series to me were portrayed as weak, emotional and frail. Too stereotypical. Everytime an obvious solution was presented they meandered down a new weird fork in the road.
