The Bridge (Bron/Broen) poster

Bron/Broen is the defining text of Nordic noir television: a slow-burning, psychologically rich crime series anchored by one of the most remarkable character performances in European television — Sofia Helin's Saga Norén, a Swedish detective with Asperger's syndrome whose forensic intelligence and social blindness make her simultaneously exasperating and deeply sympathetic. The Øresund Bridge between Denmark and Sweden is both setting and concept, forcing two detectives with radically different temperaments into an uneasy partnership across a cultural divide. Reviewers consistently praise the layered plotting, the cinematography, the atmospheric score, and a gritty authenticity that outpaces both US procedurals and the English-language remake. Audiences who are neurodiverse often report the show as personally resonant in ways rare for mainstream drama.

From the reviewers

Sofia Helins interpretation of a police-officer with Autistic spectrum of Asperger type was just excellent. Maybe not perfect, but excellent. And it is without a doubt one of the best performances I've ever seen, made by an non-autistic actres/actor.
The acting is first rate, especially that of the two leads Kim Bodnia who plays Martin Rohde and the utterly brilliant Sofia Helin who plays the clever but quirky Saga Noren.
Helin's portrayal is fantastic, and thanks to programme like this Aspergers and Autistic Spectrum disorders are finally sinking into the public's consciousness
There aren't the usual "holywood" dumbed down explanations at the end of each epp, instead it makes you keep thinking.
a corpse is found on the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, carefully positioned so that each half is in a different country
