Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story poster

Scam 1992 is a tightly constructed Indian biographical crime drama reconstructing the rise and fall of stockbroker Harshad Mehta, whose manipulation of the securities market triggered one of India's largest financial scandals. Directed by Hansal Mehta with a disciplined screenplay that renders complex financial jargon accessible without dumbing it down, the show distinguishes itself in the Indian OTT landscape by refusing melodrama, padding, and vulgarity in favor of procedural authenticity and character depth. Pratik Gandhi's central performance is the gravitational core, but the show frames Mehta within a wider systemic critique — implicating rival cartels, regulators, and the legacy of socialist-era crony capitalism. Reviewers consistently treat it as a benchmark for Indian prestige television.

From the reviewers

The strongest point in this very complicated series filled with so many jargons is the fact is it's screenplay. to the point, no nonsense, no strong language without any use, no vulgarity and just a focus on story-line.
This is the only Indian web series I found which doesn't use overly melodramatic scenes. Usually Indian TV series in general stretch the story to the point it almost gets frustrating. But not this one.
It tells the story of the scam in such a way that even a layman can understand the hardcore terms of stock and money market.
Full marks to Pratik Gandhi who lived his character completely. Rest of the cast also did a fabulous job.
The cast were so involved in the respective they are playing it was like watching real Harshad Mehta playing his own story.
