Lucifer poster

Lucifer is a US fantasy-procedural hybrid in which the Devil, played with irresistible charm by Tom Ellis, abandons Hell for Los Angeles and becomes an LAPD consultant. The show blends crime-of-the-week structure with ongoing supernatural mythology, romantic tension, and generous comedy, sustaining a tone that is light without being lightweight. Its audience skews toward genre-comfortable viewers who prize charismatic leads over gritty realism. The show was cancelled by Fox after three seasons, revived by Netflix following a viral fan campaign, and ran six total seasons — a trajectory that deepened viewer investment and became part of the show's own mythology. Reviewers consistently praise Ellis's performance and the Lucifer-Decker partnership as the show's irreplaceable core.

From the reviewers

Tom Ellis created one of the most charming, magnetic and charismatic characters in the history of television.
His portrayal of Lucifer is spot on. The charisma just jumps right off the screen and he also displayed the ability to create emotional moments that resonate with the viewer.
It takes a really unique spin on police procedurals that works very well.
The show had a gripping formula of (good) procedural storytelling intermixed with an entertaining heave/hell mythology.
while the first couple seasons of the show were tight, engaging and well written, the latter half of the show's run suffered from poor writing.
