Crime poster

Crime is a gritty, psychologically intense Scottish crime drama based on Irvine Welsh's novel, following DI Ray Lennox — a deeply damaged, addiction-haunted Edinburgh detective — as he pursues a predatory serial killer linked to missing children. The show wears its Welsh DNA openly: broken, obnoxious, emotionally raw men, strong women, black humour, and a refusal of procedural comfort. Dougray Scott's performance is its anchor and its most-praised quality, described as a masterclass in controlled instability. The Edinburgh setting is vivid and atmospheric, and the supporting cast is uniformly strong. Season 1 is widely regarded as gripping and well-paced; Season 2 attracts criticism for narrative incoherence and over-editing.

From the reviewers

Dougray Scott delivers a masterclass, he's phenomenal, Lennox is damaged, determined and dealing with serious addiction issues, he's from perfect.
the main character cries constantly (like 5+ times per episode) and is so mentally unstable that in my opinion, it is uncomfortable to watch.
It seems to jump around quite a bit, and it can take quite some time before a scene ties to anything else. Other scenes seem to be so random.
Yes there are broken obnoxious vile men, reference Filth & trainspotting, alongside brilliantly strong women.
this is gritty, humorous, rude, everything you expect from Mr Welsh, if you want daytime cop shows stick to your marplss and poirots, if you want a tiny glimpse of what it's really like this show is a must
