Bridgerton poster

Bridgerton is a lush, deliberately anachronistic Regency-era romance anthology from Netflix, each season following a different sibling of the large Bridgerton family through courtship, scandal, and love. Adapted loosely from Julia Quinn's popular novel series, it embraces a candy-colored, modern-music-inflected aesthetic — more fantasy romance than historical drama — drawing a passionate audience of romance readers and period-drama fans who delight in its sumptuous production design and soap-opera emotional arcs. It is frothy, sexy, and unapologetically escapist, with a rotating ensemble structure and a gossipy omniscient narrator (Lady Whistledown) threading storylines together.

From the reviewers

The visuals, directing, and music reminds me of a TRUE historical romance book. This doesn't feel like a made for tv show. I love how they managed to make the colors so beautiful and vibrant unlike other historical romance movie/shows that have everything "accurately" bleak.
I love the diverse casting and experimentation in costume. Casting is strong.
the soundtrack is the same thing again and again, pizzicato strings, not creative, boring that flattens depth of emotion or drama.
lots of short scenes whipping from one character to another
The plot structure they went for would have worked over at least 12 episodes instead of just 8. They clearly didn't want to give the romantic leads their time to shine which meant we didn't get time to fall in love with their love.
