Black Mirror poster

Black Mirror is a British anthology series in which each self-contained episode extrapolates a contemporary technology or social phenomenon into a near-future scenario, almost always arriving at a bleak, morally disturbing destination. Created by Charlie Brooker, it blends science fiction, satire, dark comedy, and psychological horror to function as a pessimistic mirror held up to modern media obsession and digital culture. No characters or stories carry across episodes; instead, a rotating roster of A-list talent anchors each standalone fable. Intellectually provocative and tonally relentless in its cynicism, it demands active engagement and rewards discussion. Seasons 1–4 are near-universally regarded as essential television; later seasons are considered a significant step down by the core fanbase.

From the reviewers

The stories are all shocking, disturbing and thought provoking. Most of them are about how technology is changing, has changed us, and not always for the better. It's almost like a satire of how media obsessed we have gotten.
Each self-contained episode is brilliantly crafted and produced. The stories are compelling and the acting is phenomenal.
It not only holds the viewer's attention while it plays, it enthralls your thoughts long after the credits roll.
The resulting mix of bleak sci-fi, drama, satire and black comedy makes for highly intelligent Television and ranks among the most original and entertaining shows I've ever come across.
it is not about science, but how science affects human beings. The one thing that never seems to change is us. Technology evolves, mutates, advances and declines, but human beings, our feelings, our courage, fears, and desires remain within us.
