Alice in Borderland poster

Alice in Borderland is a Japanese survival-thriller in which a young slacker and his friends are trapped in an abandoned, eerily beautiful version of Tokyo and forced to play deadly games to survive. The show's first two seasons are widely praised as among the best live-action manga adaptations ever made, distinguished by inventive game design, cinematic production scale, brutal physical stakes, and genuine puzzle-solving tension. The tone is relentlessly dark and visceral, with the deserted Tokyo setting functioning as a character in itself. Season 3, produced after a natural narrative conclusion, is broadly condemned by the fanbase as Netflix-driven content dilution that undermines character logic and abandons the sharp craft of earlier seasons.

From the reviewers

The games are creative and more complex than in Squid Game, with great plot twists, especially in the final episodes of Season 2, which are truly unique and brilliant.
The post-apocalyptic landscape of Japan looks incredible, the design and stage of each games are fantastic
I was very surprised to see how some of the action scenes are done so well, like Usagi's parkour scenes, and probably the most memorable one that involves a katana.
Alice in Borderland mixes Battle Royale with a decent amount of wit and a bit more set of relatable characters. I even thought some character progression to be delightfully done even if they're simple and straight-forward.
I do appreciate the adaptation for faithfully adapting the ending (which I enjoyed, but it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea).
