A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (2026)

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms poster

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a quieter, more intimate corner of the Game of Thrones universe — no dragons, no throne wars, just a towering hedge knight with good intentions and the highborn boy squire riding at his side. Set in a grittier, more grounded Westeros, the show trades spectacle for character warmth, dry wit, and slow-burn consequence. Reviewers describe it as spiritually closest to early Game of Thrones seasons 1–3, particularly the Arya/Hound dynamic — two mismatched companions navigating a morally complex world with more heart than sense. The Dunk-and-Egg partnership is the show's entire engine: funny, touching, and carefully acted. Faithful to George R.R. Martin's novellas, it rewards longtime ASOIAF readers while remaining accessible to newcomers drawn in by its unpretentious charm.

From the reviewers

Peter and Dexter have excellent on-screen chemistry, and it immediately feels like the series is headed in the right direction.
It captures his tone and storytelling clearly while embracing both humility and the series' signature humor.
The production values are magnificent; the scenery, costumes, and the general grittiness of the setting feel authentic, as you would expect with such a high-budget production.
The narrative is much less convoluted than the main books, which makes it easy to stick to the simple and fun plot. What I've seen so far stays close to the text, which is always a good sign for long-time fans.
a good script, well-written characters, and a sense of realism. While the show is surely more lighthearted than its predecessor, it still feels like part of the same universe that existed from first few seasons, unlike the slop that was season 8.
